BREAKING: Dead by Daylight Rumors of a January Release for Stranger Things Chapter 2 Featuring Vecna Grow Stronger

Fans of Dead by Daylight have recently started speculating that a new collaboration with Stranger Things might be on the horizon — and the evidence is becoming hard to ignore.

In the latest game update, Behaviour Interactive quietly made some changes to the Hawkins National Laboratory map. This is significant because the map — along with the Demogorgon, Nancy, and Steve — was removed from the game in 2021 after the Stranger Things license expired, and since it was reintroduced into the game two years ago, it has never been modified.

The fact that the developers have now touched that content again after such a long time has sparked major curiosity within the community.

Adding fuel to the fire, Stranger Things itself is ramping up for its final season, which is expected to release at the end of the year. In preparation, Netflix has reportedly been planning multiple collaborations across major games, including Fortnite and Brawl Stars. Given Dead by Daylight’s history with the franchise, it would make perfect sense for Behaviour Interactive to be part of this marketing push as well.

There’s also another interesting hint. During a recent interview, Dead by Daylight’s game director was asked whether fans should expect new collaborations involving previously used licenses — similar to how the game has revisited Resident Evil twice. His response was cryptic but telling: he simply said to “wait and see.”

Taken together, these clues point toward something big. The renewed activity around the Hawkins Lab map, Netflix’s collaboration spree, and the developers’ teasing comments all suggest that the Stranger Things chapter could soon be making a long-awaited comeback to Dead by Daylight.

There is yet another clue pointing toward the possibility that the long-awaited second Stranger Things chapter is on its way to Dead by Daylight. The chapter—originally expected to release on November 18 before being postponed to January—coincided with some rather telling in-game activity.

On the very day the update was initially supposed to arrive, Stranger Things cosmetics suddenly appeared in the “Featured” tab of the in-game store. Behaviour Interactive typically highlights older cosmetic collections in this way when preparing to release new licensed content, using the renewed visibility to encourage players to purchase previous items tied to the same franchise.

The timing didn’t stop there. The Stranger Things Edition of Dead by Daylight also went on sale that same day, further fueling speculation. All this renewed spotlight on Stranger Things content—paired with creative director Mathieu Côté’s recent comments hinting at upcoming collaborations involving existing licenses, similar to the multiple Resident Evil chapters—strongly suggests that the delayed November chapter may indeed be connected to Stranger Things. Many fans now believe the January release could introduce Vecna as the new Killer.

For those wondering how Vecna from Stranger Things could possibly arrive in Dead by Daylight given that the game already features Vecna from Dungeons & Dragons, the answer actually comes straight from the game’s director. In a past interview, when asked about this very scenario, he explained that there would be no issue at all, since the two characters are entirely different entities — they have different abilities, aesthetics, and come from separate licenses. This means that Stranger Things’ Vecna could appear as a unique killer, completely independent from the D&D version, rather than as a simple skin or variant. In short, the door is wide open for both Vecnas to coexist within Dead by Daylight’s ever-expanding horror universe.

If that happens, it would mark one of the most exciting contents in the Dead by Daylight’s history — and a perfect way to celebrate both the end of Stranger Things and the continued evolution of Dead by Daylight.
