How to forget, for example, the game of Friday the 13th, which initially had good sales but then was sunk by numerous balancing problems and also the legal lawsuit with the license, although fortunately the saga is returning thanks to Peacock:
There were also other licensed multiplayer horror games such as the game of Evil Dead, that of Ghostbusters, and also those coming to Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Leatherface because of which, among other things, Dead by Daylight will also lose the killer’s license:
Licensed games have also featured indie games, such as Last Year, Home Sweet Home Survive, Deceit, Hide or Die:
All projects that have tried to ride the wave of the asymmetric horror multiplayer genre that has found many supporters and fans thanks to Dead by Daylight, but as mentioned earlier, no one has managed to replicate the same success.
Recently, however, was presented a new asymmetric horror multiplayer rather intriguing, called Carnival Hunt and which will start the Kickstarter soon:
Carnival Hunt is an upcoming first-person asymmetrical multiplayer horror game from Beer Night Studio whose Kickstarter campaign is launching soon. One player takes the role of the carnival monster while the rest are bunnies.
About Asymmetric Survival:
''Step into the horrifying asymmetric world of Carnival Hunt where one among you plays as the Carnival Monster while the others play as Bunnies. In the survival of the fittest, either the Bunnies will prevail in their escape or the Carnival Monster will succeed in their hunt. Play in first-person POV where no one has the advantage of situational awareness. You never know who or what is lurking behind you.''
About the Bunnies:
''In Carnival Hunt, Bunnies must work together to wind each other up and exhaust their keys, all while avoiding the Carnival Monster. Bunnies must be careful not to make too much noise and can find spare keys or seek help from teammates, if needed. To evade the Carnival Monster, Bunnies can also play possum and blend in with dead Bunnies on the map.''
About the Monster:
''The Carnival Monster must capture Bunnies and consume their wind-up keys to charge themself. Each monster has its own unique set of skills to perform. The Magician, for instance, can go invisible. He can also teleport to different rooms using his magic box. If the Carnival Monster believes a Bunny is playing dead, it can check the bunnies one-by-one. But will lose precious time and charge in doing so.''
The project will be funded through Kickstarter and a steam page is already available:
The peculiarity of this project comes not only from the style, but also from the fact that it will be entirely in first person, which is something never done before with regard to asymmetric horror multiplayer, and here you can see a video on some game mechanics:
And just recently a new promotional teaser was released via IGN channels:
