Behaviour Interactive is bringing back the highly anticipated 2v8 game mode in Dead by Daylight this May, and this time, it’s not just returning killers—new features and gameplay twists are on the way too.
Ghostface & Oni Join the 2v8 Chaos
Following the success of the first test phase, Ghostface and The Oni are now confirmed for the 2v8 mode, marking a shift toward letting players try out more iconic killers in this large-scale setting. These additions are expected to bring a brutal balance of stealth and power, pushing survivors to adapt faster than ever before.
No Bots, More Tension
One major improvement: no bots in 2v8 lobbies. Every survivor and killer will be controlled by a real player, making every match feel more intense, unpredictable, and rewarding. Behaviour clearly took community feedback seriously, delivering a more competitive and immersive experience.
New Feature: Fog Crystals
Also debuting this round are Fog Crystals, a unique twist on the Void Crystals mechanic seen in past events. While full details are still under wraps, Fog Crystals are expected to play a strategic role in the 2v8 matches, likely offering new rewards or gameplay modifiers.
Swapped Perspective Modifier in Development
In even more experimental news, Behaviour is working on a new gameplay modifier internally referred to as “Swapped Perspective.” This mode would invert the standard camera angles—survivors will play in third-person, while killers will be in first-person, a radical change that could alter how players approach chases, stealth, and map navigation. There’s no release date yet, but this is one of the more daring tests Behaviour has explored in recent memory.
PAX East Reveal: Five Nights at Freddy’s Collab Incoming
Fans should mark their calendars for May 9th, as Behaviour will be hosting a live stream from PAX East, where they’re expected to officially announce the long-rumored collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s. Recent datamines have already hinted at the inclusion of FNaF: Secret of the Mimic content, and the live stream will finally pull back the curtain on what’s next for the fog.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach PAX East—this May is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months Dead by Daylight has seen in years.
