Two weeks ago, I hinted at the possibility — and now it’s official. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that the next Dead by Daylight killer will indeed be the Krasue, a terrifying figure from Thai folklore. The new chapter will be available for testing in the Public Test Build (PTB) on September 3.
Clearing Up the Release Confusion
There’s been some confusion around release dates. Many players believed the “January delay” applied to this upcoming chapter, but in reality, the delay refers to the November chapter, which will now launch in January. The September chapter is moving forward as planned, with the Krasue headlining the update.
Who (or What) is the Krasue?
The Krasue is one of Southeast Asia’s most notorious spirits. In Thai folklore, it is depicted as a woman’s floating head with her internal organs — heart, lungs, and intestines — trailing beneath. According to legend, the Krasue is cursed into this form as punishment for terrible deeds in a past life, such as murder or the use of black magic.
This gruesome imagery makes it a natural fit for Dead by Daylight’s roster of killers, where folklore and horror often collide.
The Teaser: “Krasue” and “The Eater”
The official teaser reveals two glowing neon signs with text that fans immediately latched onto. One reads “Krasue”, clearly confirming the inspiration behind the killer. The other says “The Eater”, which may be the in-game name Behaviour assigns to the character, much like past killers received unique Entity-inspired titles.
Possible Powers and Mechanics
The teaser also gave us an intriguing look at how the Krasue might function in-game. The killer appears to have two forms:
Human form — likely when she can directly attack survivors.
Detached form — where her head separates from her body, leaving her floating with organs exposed.
In this detached mode, she seems to gain increased mobility, possibly allowing her to soar across the map or scout for survivors. However, it’s unlikely she can perform basic attacks in this state. Instead, it might work similarly to Dracula’s bats in folklore — a mobility-focused power balanced by the need to return to her grounded form to actually deal damage.
This dual-form mechanic could make her one of the most unique killers in Dead by Daylight to date, combining high-speed traversal with a gruesome, folkloric horror aesthetic.
The confirmation of the Krasue has already electrified the Dead by Daylight community. With its roots in Thai folklore, its disturbing design, and a potentially game-changing power set, this killer has all the makings of a fan favorite.
We’ll find out more when the PTB goes live on September 3, but one thing’s certain: The Fog has never seen anything quite like the Krasue.
