Dead by Daylight Developers Behaviour Interactive Acquires 7 Days to Die Developer The Fun Pimps

Behaviour Interactive, the largest video game studio in Canada, has officially announced the acquisition of The Fun Pimps, the development team behind the popular survival horror title 7 Days to Die. The move signals a strategic effort to accelerate the game’s ongoing development while preserving its original creative direction.

According to the announcement, The Fun Pimps will continue to lead the development of 7 Days to Die, maintaining full creative control. Behaviour Interactive will instead contribute additional production resources, technical expertise, and operational support to help speed up progress on the game’s roadmap.

“We’re truly excited to welcome The Fun Pimps,” said Rémi Racine, CEO and Co-Founder of Behaviour Interactive. “Over more than a decade, 7 Days to Die has established itself as a beloved franchise, inspiring more than 20 million players.”

Racine also emphasized how the acquisition aligns with Behaviour’s broader strategy of expanding its portfolio of horror games. He noted that the title fits naturally alongside the studio’s existing lineup, particularly Dead by Daylight, as both games have grown steadily thanks to strong community engagement.

“We look forward to celebrating the game’s community by supporting The Fun Pimps’ creative vision,” Racine added.

Richard Huenink, Co-Founder of The Fun Pimps, described the partnership as a major milestone for both the studio and the game. He highlighted the importance of finding a partner that shares the same long-term vision.

“When we started this company thirteen years ago, we never imagined 7 Days to Die would become what it is today,” Huenink said. “That growth has come from our community, who have driven our game forward from the beginning. To keep giving them what they deserve, we knew we needed a partner who shared our ambitious vision for the future. Behaviour turned out to be exactly that.”

Originally released in 2024, 7 Days to Die blends open-world exploration with survival horror, first-person shooter mechanics, RPG progression, and tower defense elements. The game has been well received by players, earning a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 85% of user reviews marked as positive. To date, it has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Behaviour Interactive’s portfolio is heavily rooted in the horror genre, featuring titles such as Dead by Daylight and upcoming projects like Blight Survival. At the same time, the company continues to explore other genres with games like Flippin Misfits and Islands of Insight.

With this acquisition, Behaviour Interactive strengthens its position in the horror gaming space while ensuring that 7 Days to Die continues to evolve with the support of both its original creators and a larger development powerhouse.
