A Community-Built Chapter in Progress
In June, Behaviour Interactive kicked off an ambitious community event for Dead by Daylight called “Choose Your Own Chapter”. This ongoing initiative allows players to actively shape the next original chapter by voting in monthly polls. Each round determines a different core element — from the killer’s concept to the survivor’s archetype — giving fans unprecedented influence over the game’s future content.
The Killer: A Divine and Terrifying Presence
After months of votes and speculation, the community’s choice for the killer has taken form: a divine entity, perhaps an angelic figure or something equally otherworldly, imbued with strong religious and rapture-inspired undertones. This marks a rare thematic direction for Dead by Daylight, blending celestial imagery with horror, and promising a killer that could be as awe-inspiring as they are terrifying.
The Survivor: Mystical and Enigmatic
On the other side of the Fog, players have chosen a mystical archetype for the upcoming survivor. While the exact details remain undisclosed, this character is expected to carry an aura of mystery, potentially tied to ancient wisdom, supernatural insight, or unexplained powers. Their presence could add a unique counterbalance to the killer’s divine theme, creating a clash of spiritual forces within the game.
No New Map in Sight
One curious outcome of the polls is the apparent absence of a new map. So far, no votes have addressed a playable location, hinting that this chapter may launch without one. If that’s the case, the focus will likely remain squarely on deep character development and gameplay mechanics for both killer and survivor.
Release Set for 2026
Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that this original, community-designed chapter is slated for release next year, in 2026. With more polls still to come, fans can expect additional details to emerge over the coming months — but the broad strokes are already clear. The next chapter will bring a divine horror to the Fog, a mystical survivor to oppose it, and a truly one-of-a-kind thematic clash shaped entirely by the Dead by Daylight community.
