Dead by Daylight is gearing up for an action-packed February with the introduction of new Resident Evil skins and the anticipated 2v8 mode. Fans of the franchise can look forward to fresh cosmetics for beloved characters, alongside an immersive gameplay experience set in the Resident Evil universe.
New Resident Evil Skins
On February 10th, Dead by Daylight will release a batch of new skins for iconic Resident Evil characters, including Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, Leon S. Kennedy, Rebecca Chambers, Albert Wesker, and Nemesis. One of the standout additions is a legendary skin for Nemesis that introduces the Tyrant, a fearsome and iconic monster from the Resident Evil series, into the game.
In addition to the Resident Evil-themed cosmetics, more other skins are slated for release:
- Sable Ward and The Unknown on February 4th;
- Jake Park, The Twins and The Deathslinger on February 18th;
- Iron Maiden Skin for Sable Ward and Taurie Cain on February 25th.
While these skins aren’t connected to Resident Evil, they add more variety and excitement for players.
Resident Evil 2v8 Mode
The arrival of the Resident Evil skins coincides with the launch of a new 2v8 mode, scheduled to start in February. This mode will feature Nemesis, Wesker, and Legion as the killers, offering a unique challenge and dynamic gameplay. Players can heal infections from both Nemesis and Wesker through special chests scattered across the map. The Birkin and Hunk skins will be available, enhancing the Resident Evil-themed experience, and the iconic Resident Evil lobby will make a return.
Introducing the “Meat Shield” Survivor Class
In the upcoming Resident Evil-themed 2v8 mode in Dead by Daylight, a new survivor class known as “Meat Shield” will make its debut. This class, as referenced in the game files, will feature an active ability likely centered around a dash maneuver. This dash will enable the survivor to absorb a hit from a killer, providing a crucial moment of protection. Additionally, the Meat Shield class will have the unique capability to stun the killer, adding a strategic layer to the intense 2v8 gameplay and offering survivors a new way to turn the tide in their favor.
New Maps and Event Tome
In addition to the Raccoon City Police Department map, players will have the opportunity to explore other locations such as Sanctum of Wrath, Mount Ormond Estate (Resort), Coal Tower, and Gas Station. The event will also feature a Resident Evil 2v8 Event Tome, which is expected to reward players with a Resident Evil-themed Badge and Banner, adding an extra layer of engagement to the event.
New Killer Innate Skills
A major addition to the 2v8 mode is the introduction of “Innate Skills” for killers, providing them with passive enhancements that will significantly impact gameplay.
Nemesis Innate Skill
Increases Zombie line of sight to 18 meters and 226 degrees.
Contaminated Survivors are Hindered for 3 seconds.
Decreases Zombie spawn time by 7.5 seconds.
Increases Mutation Rate from Zombie kills by 175%.
Mastermind Innate Skill
Increases the maximum number of Virulent Bound charges to 3.
Decreases the time to perform a Bound Vault by 0.5 seconds.
Decreases the time to charge a Bound by 0.25 seconds.
Decreases Bound cooldown when not hitting a Survivor by 1 second.
Legion Innate Skill
Increases Feral Frenzy duration to 12 seconds.
Increases the maximum number of Feral Slashes to 8.
Increases the number of Feral Slashes required before downing a Survivor during Feral Frenzy to 8.
Increases the Feral Frenzy Terror Radius bonus to 20 meters.
Who is the Tyrant?
In the Resident Evil universe, the Tyrant is a class of bio-engineered supersoldiers created by the Umbrella Corporation. Known for their immense strength and resilience, Tyrants are often deployed as ultimate bioweapons against Umbrella’s enemies.
The most recognizable Tyrant is Mr. X, who is infamous for his relentless pursuit of protagonists in Resident Evil 2. However, Mr. X will not be part of these skins. Instead, the Tyrant chosen for Dead by Daylight is one of the mutated forms of Nemesis encountered in Resident Evil 3 Remake. This monstrous evolution brings a new level of horror and intensity to the game, making the Resident Evil crossover even more immersive.
Expanding the Resident Evil Universe in Dead by Daylight
This Resident Evil-themed 2v8 mode not only enriches the current gameplay but also opens the doors for further collaborations and content from the Resident Evil universe in the future. Players can look forward to more immersive experiences that blend the horror elements of both franchises.
As BHVR continues to innovate and expand Dead by Daylight’s offerings, this collaboration with Resident Evil is a testament to their commitment to delivering fresh and exciting content for their community. The 2v8 mode promises to be a standout event, drawing players into a survival horror crossover like never before.
