Concept for a Scooby-Doo Chapter: “Shadows of Mystery”
Killer: The Phantom (Inspired by Scooby-Doo Villains)
The Phantom could be an amalgamation of iconic Scooby-Doo villains, such as the Black Knight, Ghost Diver, and Zombie, known for haunting characters like Scooby and the gang. In Dead by Daylight, the Phantom would have an eerie, otherworldly appearance with a shapeshifting ability, transforming into ghostly forms that echo the classic villains.
Power – Mystery Menace: The Phantom can lay traps known as “Mystery Shrouds” that, when triggered by survivors, create illusions of classic Scooby-Doo monsters. Survivors affected by these illusions experience distorted vision and random bursts of laughter that reveal their location.
Unique Perks:
- “Scare Tactics” – Survivors working on a generator near the Phantom gain a debuff that makes skill checks sporadic and more difficult.
- “Hunted Shadows” – When the Phantom hooks a survivor, a random survivor’s aura is briefly revealed, but only while they are in motion.
- “Phantom’s Cackle” – Every few minutes, the Phantom can project a frightening laugh heard across the map, temporarily freezing a survivor if they are in the middle of an action (vaulting, repairing, healing).
Survivor: Velma Dinkley
Velma brings her intelligence and deductive skills to the game, where her unique perks help her and her teammates uncover critical information and resist the Phantom’s psychological warfare.
- Unique Perks:
- “Jinkies!” – When near a hooked survivor, Velma gains a burst of speed that lets her find hidden totems within a small radius, granting bonus bloodpoints for each totem cleansed.
- “Mystery Solver” – Velma can complete objectives faster when she’s with other survivors, but with added skill checks that offer bonus progression if successful.
- “Don’t Split Up!” – After a teammate is downed, Velma gains increased endurance when staying near other teammates for a set time, providing brief boosts in recovery speed.
Map: The Abandoned Carnival
Inspired by Scooby-Doo’s classic mystery locations, the Abandoned Carnival is eerie and atmospheric, with abandoned rides, broken mirrors, and fog-filled paths.
- Key Features:
- Merry-Go-Round Mechanic: Occasionally, the merry-go-round begins to spin, producing haunting music and distorting the field of vision around it, giving both survivors and the killer limited sight lines.
- Haunted House Area: A part of the map has hidden trap doors and small nooks for survivors to hide in. However, moving through the haunted house requires caution, as it triggers random sounds that alert the killer.
In this concept chapter, I’ve imagined some perks for Velma, but with potential legendary skins, this chapter could actually feature two Survivors at launch, similar to Resident Evil and Stranger Things, with other characters added later through legendary skins.
And, with the Scooby-Doo chapter, we could even see the first Survivor with a dog companion alongside them, along with perks connected to him. Naturally, having Scooby-Doo as a companion to the Killer wouldn’t make much sense, as Scooby and his team are dedicated to foiling threats, so it would make more sense for Scooby-Doo to assist Survivors by helping them locate the Killer through perks that reveal the Killer’s position.
This Scooby-Doo concept chapter could bring a fresh and nostalgic feel to Dead by Daylight, offering fans a thrilling blend of horror and nostalgia. With The Houndmaster opening up the possibility of dog companions in the game, the path seems clearer than ever for Scooby-Doo to potentially make his way into the Entity’s realm. Fans can only hope that Behaviour Interactive will listen to the growing calls for this dream collaboration and that, one day, Scooby-Doo will join the cast of iconic characters in Dead by Daylight.
