Behaviour Interactive has confirmed the much-anticipated return of the 2v8 mode to Dead by Daylight, offering an expanded and refined version set to go live from November 12th to November 26th. Following its initial run this past summer, the development team has used player feedback to introduce significant updates. Here’s a look at what players can expect with this reimagined version of 2v8.
The original debut of 2v8 was an instant hit, running from July 25th to August 15th. Though initially planned to end on August 8th, the enthusiastic response led Behaviour Interactive to extend the mode by an extra week. This time, the production team aims to make 2v8 a permanent fixture in Dead by Daylight. As with each iteration, players can expect plenty of surprises.
What’s New in 2v8 This November?
When 2v8 launches tomorrow, it will do so with an array of new content, mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements.
-
Extended Killer Roster: In addition to The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, and The Huntress, players can now play as The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger. This expanded lineup brings diversity to gameplay and unlocks new synergies between Killers.
-
New Map Versions: Exclusive 2v8 versions of the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale maps have been introduced, along with adaptations of existing maps, enhancing the realism and complexity of the new 2v8 experience.
-
Survivor Active Abilities and Enhanced Unlocks: Survivors now have access to Active Abilities, charging over time and allowing for game-changing plays. Abilities can now boost repair speed, instantly lift broken pallets, and even enable self-recovery from the Dying State as often as necessary. Improved Unlock Abilities grant unique advantages to Survivor Classes (Guide, Medic, Escapist, and Scout), which unlock upon a Survivor being sent to a Cage.
-
New Killer Classes for Customization: To tailor gameplay to individual preferences, players can choose between four Killer Classes, each offering distinct advantages:
- Shadow: Focuses on stealth and ambushing Survivors.
- Brute: Emphasizes relentless chases and brute force.
- Enforcer: Specializes in finishing off injured Survivors.
- Fearmonger: Improves Killer mobility and map control.
This dynamic new structure gives players more variety, enabling Killers to approach the hunt in diverse and strategic ways.
Building on Past Success
The return of 2v8 comes in direct response to player feedback. “We were thrilled by the community’s response last time,” said Product Director Justin Brown. “We don’t want players to wait months for another round. This approach lets us refine the mode and evolve with each version.”
The enhanced 2v8 mode will be live for two weeks, providing players with an intense, cooperative Dead by Daylight experience that builds on the game’s classic mechanics. As Behaviour Interactive continues to develop new content, it’s clear that 2v8 will remain a core part of the game’s evolving landscape.
