A surprising revelation has emerged in the gaming community: a planned Fortnite x Dead by Daylight collaboration was reportedly canceled before its official release. According to recent leaks, the crossover would have introduced The Huntress and The Trapper as new playable characters in Fortnite, alongside Feng Min and Dwight Fairfield as cosmetic skins scheduled for 2024.

As of now, it’s unclear whether the collaboration has been completely scrapped or simply postponed. Epic Games and Behaviour Interactive have not issued any official statements regarding the situation.
This isn’t the first time a major Fortnite crossover has failed to see the light of day. Several years ago, players discovered references to Pennywise from IT in the game’s files — including audio clips and red balloons believed to be tied to a Halloween event. However, despite the evidence, that event was quietly canceled and never resurfaced. Fans are now wondering if the same fate awaits the Dead by Daylight crossover.
Still, not all hope is lost. With Fortnite’s ongoing history of reviving collaborations after delays — and Dead by Daylight’s continued popularity through constant updates and crossovers — the partnership could potentially reappear in the future.
Meanwhile, another rumor circulating the Dead by Daylight community involves Freddy Krueger. Actor Robert Englund, the legendary face behind the nightmare slasher, recently spoke with Fangoria about his interest in returning as Freddy Krueger for a possible animated film:
“Oh, sure. I mean, I’m really busy with voice work anyway. I just did Pinocchio: Unstrung, I’m the evil cricket. I like that idea. When I do the cons and film festivals, I’m confronted with so much great illustration art of Freddy Krueger, conceived in so many ways… I love it.”
Englund added:
“I know there’s this whole world in animation that could take advantage of the Nightmare on Elm Street stories, which I think would be really fun. I’d love to contribute to that, sure.”
If this animated project ever moves forward, it could reignite hopes for a Dead by Daylight skin modeled after Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger, giving fans a nostalgic reason to revisit the Fog once again.
For now, both communities remain in suspense — waiting to see whether these horror icons will eventually make their way into Fortnite, Dead by Daylight, or both.
