Horror fans and gamers alike have a new reason to celebrate: Friday the 13th: The Game is officially returning as part of a much larger initiative under the newly launched Jason Universe. Striker Entertainment has entered an exclusive partnership with Horror, Inc. to manage global consumer products for this iconic horror franchise, and the comeback includes the fan-favorite asymmetrical multiplayer game.
Jason Universe Is Expanding
As announced months ago, Jason Universe will serve as the all-encompassing brand umbrella for everything related to Jason Voorhees. This includes Friday the 13th: The Game, the upcoming Crystal Lake TV series, and a wide array of merchandise and licensing opportunities. It’s all timed to coincide with the franchise’s 45th anniversary celebration happening later this year.
“As we started to look at the impactful ways to introduce Jason Universe to consumers, we knew that our strongest path forward would be with Striker Entertainment and their proven pedigree in the consumer products space,” said Sheri Conn, Chief Marketing Officer at Horror, Inc.
Striker CEO Russell Binder added:
“Jason is permanently carved into the ‘Mt. Rushmore’ of horror. From Saw to The Walking Dead, Creepshow, and more, Striker knows how to deliver what fans want.”
What This Means for Friday the 13th: The Game
Although the original Friday the 13th: The Game officially shut down on December 31, 2024 due to licensing complications, the announcement of Striker’s involvement signals a possible relaunch or spiritual successor to the game. The inclusion of Friday the 13th: The Game in the Jason Universe project implies that the title — whether in its original form or in a new iteration — will be part of future plans.
Adding even more excitement, a brand-new design for Jason Voorhees has been officially revealed and will be used across all upcoming projects, from games to films and merchandising. If Jason ever makes his long-awaited appearance in Dead by Daylight, this will likely be the look he adopts. Click here if you don’t know anything about it.
What’s Next?
With renewed licensing freedom following the resolution of the franchise’s long-standing legal battle, and with Crystal Lake in development and a new film reportedly on the way, Jason Voorhees is finally stepping back into the spotlight. For fans of the game, this is a long-awaited revival — and possibly a second chance to play as one of horror’s most iconic killers.
Stay tuned for more updates as Striker Entertainment and Horror, Inc. prepare to unleash Jason on the world once again — sharper, scarier, and deadlier than ever.
