It’s pretty much since the first licensed content was released in 2016 (Halloween with Michael Myers and Laurie Strode) that fans of Dead by Daylight hope to receive a chapter in collaboration with Friday the 13th to play with Jason Voorhees.

Even trying to work with survivors, the killer was really too strong, and the real problem with the game was that, because the target was mostly Jason Voorhees fans, the buyer obviously wanted to play in his shoes, and because matchmaking did not allow the choice between Survivor and Killer, it happened in 90% of the games that those who were not chosen to play the killer left the game (there was no punishment for those who left the games) leaving the other survivors in the minority, with targets that were meant for 7 people, and with a killer who once saw you, it really took very little time before he killed you, also because, another of the problems of the game, was that the only tool needed to escape Jason’s grasp, also served to remove his traps that could be placed in the various escape routes of the survivors, such as where the car had to be repaired, so the survivors found this item (it was a pocketknife), and then they could use it either to escape and stun Jason for a few seconds, or to take out one of the various traps that they had around the map that prevented survivors from doing their own targets.
All this if it is added to the various powers already listed by Jason, and the late balancing patches, you will understand for yourself why the game died quickly. And, yes, I’m one of those who played the game from Day One.

The team that was publisher of that project, Gun Media, then began working on a new game which was presented a short time ago, namely a 3vs4 asymmetric multiplayer game based on the license of Leatherface, Texas Chainsaw Massacre:
While the developers of Friday the 13th The Game, Illfonic, developed a multiplayer FPS game based on the Predator license called Predator Hunting Grounds, and then they got to work on another licensed game, another asymmetric multiplayer horror based on the license of Ghostbusters called Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed:
But despite this, fans of Jason Voorhees have always hoped that sooner or later they could see their darling within Dead by Daylight that has already welcomed many horror icons such as Ghost Face, Pinhead, Myers, Krueger, Leatherface and many others.
And maybe all this could actually come true, thanks to the new prequel TV series called Crystal Lake that will explore the origins of the saga as it will be set before the first film of Friday the 13th.
Victor Miller, the original writer of the movie is also involved in the creation of the TV series, along with Rob Barsamian who holds the rights to the franchise’s title, hockey mask, and adult Jason concept, Bryan Fuller, the writer and producer of Hannibal, and the studio A24 who collaborated on the creation of HBO’s Euphoria:
May then arrive on Dead by Daylight the Crystal Lake Chapter, with killer the character who will be the villain within this new project, and as survivor the protagonist of the TV series.
