Ghost Jason from Never Hike Alone Could Become a Jason Voorhees Skin in Dead by Daylight
The arrival of Jason Voorhees in Dead by Daylight was already one of horror gaming’s biggest moments of the year, but a new interview published yesterday by SlasherRadio has given fans even more reasons to get excited about what comes next.
During the interview, Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive, shared several interesting details regarding the future of Jason inside the Fog — and while some answers remained intentionally vague, they may have opened the door to possibilities fans have wanted for years.
One of the biggest takeaways is simple: Behaviour clearly isn’t treating Jason as a one-and-done collaboration.
According to Côté, the team has “many things” they want to do with the character moving forward, suggesting that Jason’s addition to Dead by Daylight could evolve far beyond his launch chapter. That alone is enough to fuel speculation, but the conversation became even more interesting when the topic shifted toward cosmetics.
When asked whether players could eventually see skins based on the Friday the 13th movies, Côté stopped short of confirming anything. However, he also notably didn’t deny the possibility.
That might not sound like much, but for longtime fans of licensed content in Dead by Daylight, non-denials matter. Movie-inspired cosmetics have become one of the most requested features for licensed killers, and the fact that Behaviour isn’t closing the door leaves at least a small window of hope open.
Perhaps the most important reveal, however, concerns creative freedom.
Côté explained that Jason Universe has given Behaviour extensive creative freedom when it comes to producing original cosmetics for Jason. That is potentially huge news for the future of the character because original cosmetics have historically depended heavily on licensing restrictions.
A perfect example is Pinhead. Despite being one of horror’s most iconic villains, the Hellraiser chapter received virtually no original cosmetic support for the character himself, with only a Legendary cosmetic connected to another character from the franchise eventually making its way into the game. Jason, on the other hand, appears to exist under a much more flexible agreement.
For fans who enjoy original takes on horror icons, that flexibility could be just as important as movie skins.
Then Womp Stomp Films Entered the Conversation
As if the interview wasn’t enough, the community got another surprise shortly after it started circulating online.
Womp Stomp Films — the creators behind the massively popular Never Hike Alone fan projects — posted on social media suggesting they would be more than willing to collaborate to bring Ghost Jason into Dead by Daylight.
The post immediately ignited discussion across the community.
For fans outside the Friday the 13th fandom, Womp Stomp Films is one of the most respected names in horror fan filmmaking. The studio became famous for producing high-quality fan projects based on Friday the 13th, earning praise for delivering stories and production values that many fans considered comparable to official entries.
Their biggest success is the Never Hike Alone saga.

What Is Ghost Jason?
Ghost Jason is the version of Jason featured in the Never Hike Alone universe.
Unlike some classic incarnations pulled directly from the films, Ghost Jason was designed specifically around the atmosphere and mythology built by Womp Stomp Films. He’s portrayed as a silent, supernatural force haunting the remains of Crystal Lake long after the franchise’s traditional timeline faded into legend.
The design itself has become iconic among fans thanks to its weathered appearance, unique mask details, darker presentation, and focus on Jason functioning almost like an urban legend lurking in forgotten spaces.
Over time, Ghost Jason developed a dedicated fan following separate from the classic movie looks — enough that many fans now consider him one of the standout interpretations of the character outside the official films.
What Is the Never Hike Alone Saga?
The Never Hike Alone saga started with the original fan film released in 2017 and quickly became one of the most successful Friday the 13th fan projects ever created.
Rather than recreating the camp-slasher formula beat-for-beat, the series expanded the mythology around Crystal Lake and explored what Jason’s presence would look like in a more modern setting.
The saga eventually expanded into multiple projects, including:
- Never Hike Alone
- Never Hike in the Snow
- Never Hike Alone 2
- Additional anthology and expanded universe projects built around the same continuity
What made the series stand out wasn’t just nostalgia — it was ambition. The films featured returning franchise actors, stronger continuity, larger production values, and a version of Jason that many viewers felt restored the character’s intimidating presence.
A Collaboration That Suddenly Feels Possible
Right now, Ghost Jason joining Dead by Daylight remains pure speculation.
But between Behaviour confirming broad creative freedom, Jason Universe seemingly allowing original concepts, and Womp Stomp openly expressing interest, fans suddenly have more reasons than ever to dream.
A few weeks ago, the conversation was simply about finally getting Jason into the game.
Now the question is: how far can Behaviour take him?
