During tonight’s PlayStation State of Play livestream (September 24, 2025), Illfonic and Gun Interactive finally revealed the release date of Halloween: The Game. The asymmetric stealth-horror title is set to launch on September 8, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. Alongside the announcement came a brand-new trailer showcasing tense gameplay and cinematic sequences.
Step Into Michael Myers’ Mask—or Stand Against Him
Set on the fateful Halloween night of 1978, Halloween: The Game lets players step into the role of the legendary killer Michael Myers or fight back as the desperate civilians of Haddonfield. Wearing the infamous mask, Myers stalks the streets with supernatural abilities, using shadows and stealth to terrorize unsuspecting victims.
But survival won’t come easy for the citizens of Haddonfield. As local heroes, players must warn their neighbors, scavenge weapons and supplies, and guide families to safety before Michael closes in. By calling the police and organizing armed resistance, civilians can turn the suburban battleground into a tense standoff between order and chaos.
Asymmetric Horror Across Modes
Like Illfonic’s past projects (Friday the 13th: The Game, Predator: Hunting Grounds), Halloween features asymmetric 1v4 multiplayer matches where every round feels unpredictable. Michael is relentless, but civilians have numbers, creativity, and the neighborhood itself to aid them. NPC allies can be armed and directed to distract—or even overwhelm—the Shape, creating openings for escape.
For the first time, fans can also relive the story of “The Night He Came Home” in a dedicated single-player narrative mode. This campaign allows players to experience John Carpenter’s original nightmare through Michael’s eyes, offering a chilling new perspective on the slasher icon.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Illfonic and Gun Interactive promise a true next-gen horror experience. Built in Unreal Engine 5, Halloween: The Game boasts dynamic AI systems, cinematic lighting, and immersive sandbox mechanics. Every match becomes a unique blend of fear, strategy, and survival, whether you’re hiding in the shadows as Michael or racing against time to protect Haddonfield’s residents.
“Our goal is to push the horror experience to the next level with single and multiplayer modes so players can get the most out of the game,” said Jared Gerritzen, CCO of Illfonic. “Whether they become the boogeyman or fight to protect Michael Myers’ victims, Halloween promises an unforgettable battle of fear and survival.”
A New Chapter for Horror Gaming
Illfonic has built a reputation for asymmetrical horror, from Friday the 13th to Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. With Halloween: The Game, they’re returning to slasher roots and bringing one of the most iconic villains in film history into the gaming spotlight.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer—Michael Myers is coming home on September 8, 2026.
