With the release of The Houndmaster in the upcoming Doomed Curse chapter of Dead by Daylight, speculation is swirling in the community about a possible collaboration with the iconic Jurassic Park franchise. The rumor stems from the unique mechanic of The Houndmaster, who commands a canine companion to hunt down survivors. Fans theorize this gameplay mechanic could be adapted for a dinosaur trainer sending velociraptors to pursue survivors.
Adding fuel to the fire is Behaviour Interactive’s prior experience with the Jurassic franchise. The studio developed and published Jurassic World Primal Ops, a mobile game featuring dinosaurs and handlers. Given this existing relationship, the idea of a Jurassic Park chapter in Dead by Daylight is not as far-fetched as it might initially seem.
A Killer Concept: The Dinosaur Trainer
If the Jurassic Park rumor holds any truth, it’s likely we’d see a Killer with a power similar to The Houndmaster. Here’s how it could work:
Killer Name: The Trainer
Real Name: Owen Grady
Realm: Isla Nublar Ruins
Weapon: Tranquilizer Dart Rifle
Power: Raptor Command
The Trainer commands a pack of velociraptors, utilizing them as hunting companions. Survivors must avoid not only the Trainer but also the stalking raptors, which are released to patrol areas, track survivors, or disrupt objectives.
Primary Ability: Raptor Hunt
The Trainer can mark a generator, hook, or survivor. Once marked, a velociraptor is deployed to patrol the area, pouncing on any survivors nearby and injuring them. Survivors can attempt to hide or use flashlights to blind the raptors temporarily.Secondary Ability: Call of the Pack
When survivors are grouped together, the Trainer can summon a pack of raptors to corral and scatter them, slowing their repair or healing actions.Special Mechanic: Raptors can be defeated through coordinated survivor action, such as trapping them in cages scattered across the map.
Perks:
Predator’s Instinct
Gain a notification whenever survivors run within your terror radius for more than 3 seconds.Relentless Hunt
Hooking a survivor reduces all generator repair speeds by 5% for 20 seconds.Survival of the Fittest
Injured survivors take 10% longer to vault or drop pallets.
A Survivor Concept: Dr. Ellie Sattler
Alongside the Trainer, Dr. Ellie Sattler could join the survivor roster, bringing her expertise and resourcefulness to the fight for survival.
Backstory: A paleobotanist turned reluctant adventurer, Ellie is no stranger to danger. Her ability to assess risks and think on her feet makes her a valuable ally in the fog.
Perks:
Botanical Escape
After hiding in a locker for 3 seconds, emerge silently and gain a burst of speed for 2 seconds.Field Expertise
Healing survivors restores an additional health state when performed within the Killer’s terror radius.Natural Instincts
Gain a 10% repair speed boost on generators with two or more survivors working on them.
Potential Map: Isla Nublar Ruins
A fog-covered ruin of the infamous Jurassic Park facility, with overgrown vegetation, destroyed enclosures, and half-flooded walkways. Key areas could include a damaged control room, velociraptor pens, and an overturned tour vehicle. Environmental hazards like roaming compies (small dinosaurs) could add tension for survivors.
Could This Collaboration Happen?
Given Behaviour Interactive’s track record of blending popular franchises into Dead by Daylight, it’s easy to imagine a Jurassic Park chapter coming to the game. Leveraging existing mechanics from The Houndmaster would make the development process smoother while offering a fresh take on the survival horror experience.
