M3GAN Could Be The Next Dead by Daylight-like Video Game: Blumhouse Opens A Gaming Division!

From 2016 onward the fashion for multiplayer horror games has broken out, that is, since the industry realized that thanks to Dead by Daylight a slice of the market had been created for that type of game as well, in fact, for example, Leatherface and Killer Klowns games are on the way:

Official word recently came from Blumhouse Pictures, the company that among others produced Paranormal Activity and M3GAN, and is currently at work on Five Nights at Freddy’s movie together with the original creator of the video game:

Regarding the opening of a division specializing in indie horror games, its purpose will be to finance interesting indie projects up to a maximum of $10 million, it will then have the role of the publisher taking care of producing and distributing video games for PC, Console and Mobile.

The new division will employ Zach Wood, who will be President, and former PlayStation executive Don Sechler, who will be Creative Director.

Zach Wood, president of Blumhouse Games, said:
“There is a unique opportunity for horror in the indie games space, and I am excited to partner with Blumhouse to leverage the company’s brand, reputation and creative talent in a meaningful way.”

Wood has been in the video game industry for more than 25 years and has worked on more than 30 games on all major platforms, up to the most recent Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5 working on games such as The Unfinished Swan and Bound at Santa Monica Studio/PlayStation – Prey: Mooncrash and Redfall at Arkane/Bethesda, Sound Shapes, Hohokum, and most recently, a stint with Iron Galaxy.

Blumhouse President Abhijay Prakash said:
”For some time we have been looking to build out a team to start accessing the growth opportunity in interactive media. When we sat with Zach and Don they articulated an approach that resonated with Blumhouse’s model and we knew it was a perfect place for us to start our push into the interactive space. With their experience, sensibility and knowledge of the gaming marketplace Zach and Don are the ideal leaders to leverage Blumhouse’s unique genre strengths into gaming.”

Blumhouse has produced more than 150 movies and TV series with theatrical grosses totaling over $5 billion. In movies, the company’s franchises include Paranormal Activity, Halloween and The Purge. The studio’s movies include “Split” from M. Night Shyamalan, “M3GAN,” Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman”, Scott Derrickson’s “The Black Phone,” and Jordan Peele’s “Get Out.”

And now with the entry into the video game industry, new opportunities could open up for the company, especially since there are so many fans who would like Chucky within Dead by Daylight, with the developers having always said that unfortunately at the development level it is not possible, and since M3GAN is probably inspired by the famous killer doll, an asymmetrical multiplayer video game based on her, after even the excellent box office results, could be the right move. In fact, I remind you that the game on Jason Voorhees, Predator, Ghostbusters, and Evil Dead have been made, and Leatherface and Killer KIowns are coming out soon, but so far there is still no game based on a killer doll.
