Marble Hornets, The Conjuring and Jaws Could Be Coming to Dead by Daylight According to Social Clues and Developer Comments
Marble Hornets Could Finally Be Coming to Dead by Daylight
For years, Marble Hornets has been one of the most requested indie horror licenses among the Dead by Daylight community. While Behaviour Interactive has never officially confirmed any collaboration, several recent events suggest that something may finally be happening behind the scenes.
A few weeks ago, Dead by Daylight Community Manager Eric Pope publicly revealed that he had started discussions with Marble Hornets creator Troy Wagner following years of requests and pressure from fans who wanted to see The Operator enter The Entity’s Realm.
Shortly afterwards, fans directly asked Troy Wagner whether he could share how the conversations with Behaviour Interactive had gone. Interestingly, Wagner stated that he could not discuss the matter.
That response immediately caught the attention of the community. If the collaboration had been completely impossible or immediately rejected, it would have been easy to simply say so. Instead, the silence suggests that the discussions may have led to something more positive.
There is precedent for this kind of situation. Several years ago, when fans asked about a possible collaboration with Terrifier, the producers publicly explained that a Dead by Daylight chapter would not be happening anytime soon, while still implying that it was something that could happen eventually. As players now know, Art the Clown will officially arrive in Dead by Daylight this year.
Because of that history, many fans believe the same process could now be unfolding for Marble Hornets.
The speculation intensified only a few days ago during the teaser for Dead by Daylight’s upcoming survivor chapter. The teaser featured a map covered with handwritten notes detailing locations that the new survivor had investigated while searching for the missing individuals who would later end up trapped within The Entity’s Realm.
Fans quickly noticed something unusual.
One of the highlighted locations on the map was Alabama.
The detail immediately stood out because no existing survivor in Dead by Daylight originates from Alabama, making the inclusion seem oddly specific. Even more interesting was the way Alabama had been circled on the map, as the shape and style of the marking appeared strikingly similar to the iconic Marble Hornets symbol.
Considering that Marble Hornets was filmed in Alabama and that the series itself is set there, many fans believe this cannot simply be a coincidence.

What is Marble Hornets?
Released in 2009, Marble Hornets is widely regarded as one of the most influential internet horror series ever created and one of the projects responsible for popularising the Slender Man mythos.
The series follows Jay Merrick as he investigates a collection of mysterious tapes left behind by his former film school friend Alex Kralie, who abruptly abandoned a student film project called Marble Hornets. As Jay reviews the footage, he discovers the presence of a terrifying and unexplained figure known only as The Operator.
Presented through found footage videos, hidden entries and cryptic clues, Marble Hornets helped define the ARG and internet horror landscape of the early 2010s and remains one of the genre’s most beloved creations.
With its themes of surveillance, psychological horror and stalking, The Operator would fit surprisingly well within Dead by Daylight’s gameplay philosophy.
The Conjuring Is Clearly on Behaviour’s Radar
Another horror license that fans continue to request is The Conjuring.
Recently, a fan asked Behaviour Interactive on Reddit whether a collaboration based on The Conjuring universe could ever happen in Dead by Daylight.
The developers responded with a simple but very interesting answer:
“Nothing is impossible.”
For most communities, such a statement might sound like a generic corporate response. However, longtime Dead by Daylight players know that Behaviour developers rarely comment on licenses that they know are completely unattainable or impossible to secure.
The fact that the team was willing to publicly entertain the idea strongly suggests that The Conjuring has at the very least been considered internally.
Whether it eventually arrives as a full chapter or as a smaller collection remains unknown, but it is clearly not outside the realm of possibility.

What is The Conjuring?
The Conjuring is one of the most successful horror franchises of the modern era and is based on the cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Beginning with James Wan’s 2013 film, the franchise expanded into an entire cinematic universe including Annabelle, The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona and several sequels and spin-offs.
From a Dead by Daylight perspective, the possibilities are enormous. Characters such as Valak, Annabelle or even The Crooked Man could potentially serve as killers, while iconic locations from the films could easily become maps within The Entity’s Realm.
Given the popularity of the franchise and Behaviour’s history with Warner Bros. properties, fans continue to view The Conjuring as one of the most realistic major licenses for the future.
Could Jaws Actually Work in Dead by Daylight?
Perhaps the strangest — and most exciting — possibility discussed over the last year has been Jaws.
The conversation began after a fan-made concept imagining the legendary shark as a Dead by Daylight killer went viral across social media. The idea generated enormous attention throughout the community and eventually reached Dead by Daylight Game Director Mathieu Côté.
Rather than dismissing the idea, Côté publicly stated that a Jaws chapter could genuinely be possible.
Now, he has expanded further on the concept and revealed that Behaviour has internally discussed the possibility at length:
“Jaws has been discussed at length internally. How could we make it happen? The great thing is that because of the way we built Dead by Daylight, the way the universe works — it’s a nightmare — it doesn’t need to make perfect sense. It’s okay for things to be weird. You could be running around and feeling like you’re in molasses because you’re underwater. It doesn’t matter. You don’t need to breathe. You don’t need any of that. You could be chased by a shark. Like there are ways we could do that, I think. And especially because every single killer can sort of bring his own rules, right? When you play a game against a certain killer, the game is slightly different. The rules are slightly different, and we could push that. We could make a killer where the rules are very different.”
The statement is significant because it confirms that Behaviour has moved beyond simply acknowledging fan interest and has actively discussed design solutions for making a shark work inside the game.
Dead by Daylight already changes its rules depending on the killer being played. The Xenomorph introduced tunnels, Sadako introduced televisions, and Vecna completely transformed item interactions.
A shark that bends the rules even further suddenly feels much less impossible than it did a few years ago.
What is Jaws?
Released in 1975 and directed by Steven Spielberg, Jaws is widely considered one of the most influential films in cinema history and the movie that effectively created the modern summer blockbuster.
Based on Peter Benchley’s novel of the same name, the film follows Police Chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hooper and professional shark hunter Quint as they attempt to stop a gigantic great white shark that is terrorizing the seaside community of Amity Island.
The film became a cultural phenomenon thanks to its unforgettable suspense, John Williams’ iconic musical score and the terrifying presence of the shark itself, which remains one of the most recognizable horror icons ever created.
Nearly fifty years after its release, Jaws continues to influence both horror and thriller films, and the idea of bringing one of cinema’s most legendary predators into Dead by Daylight has become one of the community’s most fascinating and unexpected requests.
Whether players are eventually hunted by The Operator in the forests of Alabama, face demons from The Conjuring universe, or somehow attempt to outrun one of cinema’s most famous predators, one thing has become increasingly clear:
Behaviour Interactive appears more willing than ever to explore ideas that once seemed completely impossible.
