The collaboration between Nicolas Cage and Dead by Daylight is really as strange as can be expected, so much so that when the trailer was leaked, many thought it was fake.
And yesterday at Summer Game Fest, Nicolas Cage himself even talked about the game and a gameplay trailer was released with a release date as well:

The arrival of Nicolas Cage on Dead by Daylight probably opens the door for new actors to come into the game, such as Neve Campbell from the Scream saga:
But not only that, in fact most likely another reason why an actor has been involved within the game is because of the upcoming movie:
In fact, for those who don't know about it, a few months ago, Dead by Daylight announced the film in collaboration with James Wan, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse, the company that is working on Five Nights At Freddy's movie:
Clearly, making a film with well-known actors is a great way to sell the product to fans, and that's where Nicolas Cage comes in, whose trailer and the way it was presented literally speaks of a movie set:
Nicolas Cage may therefore have entered the game because he will then possibly be involved in the film currently in development, and he may therefore not be the only actor coming to Dead by Daylight, as mentioned earlier.
As a reminder, there is very little news about the film at the moment other than statements from the teams involved:
We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen.'' says Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive.
'In Dead by Daylight the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains — perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation,” adds James Wan, Atomic Monster Founder and CEO. “We’re big fans of the game at Atomic Monster, and are thrilled to be teaming up with Blumhouse to bring this frighteningly visceral world to the big screen.”
The producers of the project are James Wan, Jason Blum and Stephen Mulrooney, and the executive producers are Behaviour Interactive’s Rémi Racine, Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott, Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek, and Striker Entertainment’s Russell Binder.
