PAX East: Halloween Fans Set Guinness World Record with Massive Michael Myers Gathering in Boston
Horror fans made history this past weekend in Boston, where a chillingly impressive crowd of Michael Myers lookalikes came together to set a brand-new Guinness World Record. The event took place during PAX East 2026, celebrating the enduring legacy of the iconic Halloween franchise.
A total of 254 participants, all dressed as the infamous masked killer from Halloween, gathered outside the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center to officially claim the title for the largest assembly of Michael Myers fans ever recorded. Clad in the character’s signature white mask, blue coveralls, and armed with prop knives, the crowd transformed the streets into a haunting sea of “Shapes.”
The Boogeyman took Boston by storm today!
We want to extend an enormous shoutout to all the amazing people who showed up and helped the Halloween team secure the @GWR title for the “Largest gathering of people dressed as Michael Myers (Halloween franchise).

The record-breaking moment was part of a much larger celebration tied to the franchise’s expansion into gaming. Developer IllFonic, in collaboration with Gun Interactive, Compass International Pictures, and Further Front, showcased its upcoming asymmetric multiplayer horror game Halloween, which quickly became one of the standout attractions of the convention.
Throughout the weekend, thousands of attendees lined up to try the game’s first playable demo, which drew significant attention and praise. The demo, set in the dark streets of Haddonfield Heights, delivered a tense 1-vs-4 multiplayer experience where players could either take on the role of Michael Myers or fight to survive as civilians. The gameplay was widely appreciated for faithfully capturing the suspense, atmosphere, and slow-building terror of the original film.
Saturday, March 28, also featured a packed and highly anticipated panel focused on the collaboration between developers and the original creators. On stage were Malek Akkad and Ryan Freimann from Compass International Pictures, alongside Jared Gerritzen and Jordan Mathewson from IllFonic, with a special virtual appearance by legendary director John Carpenter. The discussion provided fans with rare insight into the creative process behind adapting one of horror’s most iconic stories into an interactive experience.
Later that afternoon, IllFonic, Trancas International Films, and the passionate fan community officially made horror history. The gathering of 254 Michael Myers lookalikes was certified as a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ achievement, turning the streets of Boston into one of the most visually striking and memorable spectacles of the entire event.
With excitement continuing to build, Halloween is set to launch on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Following its strong reception at PAX East, the game is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated horror releases of the year.
With the record now set, the only question left is: who will dare to break it next?
