Following the latest news shared in recent weeks about the upcoming new Silent Hill movie:
Today thanks to Deadline, new information has been shared, the two actors who will take part in the film have in fact been officially announced, and also the plot.
The leads will be Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw), with filming expected to begin next month in Germany and Eastern Europe.
The new film will be based on Silent Hill 2 and will be directed by the director of the Silent Hill film released in 2006.
Return To Silent Hill, this is the name chosen for the film, will be produced by Victor Hadida and Molly Hassell, and will be shot at Lake Ammer, and more in Germany in Penzing, Munich, Rossberg, Nuremberg.
According to Deadline, the film will follow James (Irvine), a man wracked with grief after losing his one true love (Anderson). When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of the woman, James finds the town he once knew now transformed by an unknown evil. As the protagonist descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and endure long enough to save his lost love.
Benoit Debie will be in charge of photography, Christophe Gans in addition to directing will be in charge of the screenplay, and editing will be Sébastian Prangère.
"Return to Silent Hill is a mythological love story about someone so deeply in love that he is willing to go to hell to save the person he cares about," said the director. "I am delighted that the wonderful actors Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson have chosen to accompany us on this psychological journey into a horror world that I hope will satisfy and surprise Silent Hill fans."
