The long-awaited collaboration between Five Nights at Freddy’s and Dead by Daylight has finally landed with the release of the new PTB, introducing Springtrap as the killer and a new map inspired by the iconic FNAF pizzeria. But amid the excitement, many fans have noticed a curious omission: there’s no sign of Foxy.
While Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, and Chica all make appearances on the map—most notably Freddy’s head eerily watching players—Foxy is nowhere to be seen. He’s not on the map, and there’s no skin or cosmetic item referencing him. This absence hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it’s led to widespread speculation within the community about what this might mean.
Is Foxy Being Saved for Something Bigger?
One theory gaining traction is that Foxy’s absence might be intentional, hinting at a future skin release rather than being tied to the environment. Given Foxy’s well-known trait of high-speed movement in the FNAF games, he would be a natural fit as a Legendary Skin for The Blight, a Dead by Daylight killer whose power revolves around fast dashing around the map.
The parallels are clear—both characters embody speed and erratic movement, and The Blight’s unique mobility-based gameplay could be an ideal vessel for a Foxy skin. It wouldn’t be the first time Behaviour Interactive saved a high-profile character for a cosmetic release rather than implementing them as map elements.
More FNAF Content on the Way?
This theory gains more credibility considering recent statements from Dead by Daylight’s Creative Director, Dave Richard, who confirmed that more FNAF-related content is planned for the future. While specific details weren’t revealed, he hinted that the current chapter was only the beginning of the collaboration, leaving room for more characters, skins, or even a second chapter featuring different gameplay mechanics or survivors.
This could also explain why Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie are already present as static props on the new map. Their inclusion there might suggest they won’t appear as skins, while Foxy’s mysterious absence might indicate Behaviour is holding him back for a more prominent cosmetic or playable role.
The omission of Foxy in the initial FNAF x DBD chapter has raised more questions than answers, but fans have good reason to remain optimistic. Whether as a Legendary Skin for The Blight or as part of a second FNAF chapter, Foxy’s time in the fog may be just around the corner. With Behaviour’s track record of expanding its biggest licenses over time, like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, a return trip to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza seems almost inevitable.
