Stephen King – News about IT Pennywise TV Series ‘Welcome to Derry’ & The Boogeyman Movie!

If you remember, earlier this year I told you about the fact that Pennywise would receive a TV series prequel by HBO in which was also involved the director of the two films of 2017 and 2019, Andy Muschietti:

And now new details emerge about the project

thanks to an interview on Variety to the HBO Max Head of Originals Sarah Aubrey:

“We have been working with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti very closely, they’re so deep into this mythology and they have such a firm handle on the storytelling around these characters and also the demented scares that they’re putting into things. Sometimes I’m, like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ Just all the wild ways they think up to terrify us. You’ll be hearing more concretely about that development very soon. Andy is very involved in every bit of this, so that is the real recipe for success and for delighting fans.

For those who don’t know, the TV series will also include the story of the origin of Pennywise, and will be set in the 60s in the period before the events of IT: Part One of 2017.

But for fans of the works of Stephen King, the news is not finished here, because there is also new information for the adaptation ‘The Boogeyman‘ the work written in 1973 and that has never received a film adaptation.

The movie will be directed by Rob Savage and will be distributed on Hulu, produced by 20th Century Fox.

Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place), Akela Cooper (Malignant), along with Mark Heyman (Black Swan) involved in writing the script.

The project received the PG-13 rated for ‘Terror, violent content, drug use for teenagers and some strong language.’

The actors involved will be:
Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man, The Umbrella Academy), Chris Messina (Birds of Prey), David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box, Mr. Corman), Madison Hu (Voyagers) and Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”).

As for the synopsis:
”Still shaken by the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their home and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”

Excited about it?
