The fog may soon thicken once more with familiar faces from Hawkins, Indiana. According to fresh rumors circulating in the Dead by Daylight community, Behaviour Interactive is preparing a new collaboration with Netflix’s Stranger Things, potentially set for release in November 2025. The chapter is said to feature Vecna as the killer, with Eleven and Jim Hopper joining the roster as survivors.
A Familiar Partnership Reignited
Stranger Things previously crossed over with Dead by Daylight in 2019, delivering a full chapter that included the Demogorgon as the killer and Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler as survivors, alongside the Underground Complex map. That chapter was removed in 2021 when the licensing deal expired, but returned to the in-game store in 2023—hinting that the relationship between Behaviour Interactive and Netflix is still very much alive.
Now, with the fifth and final season of Stranger Things expected to premiere around November 2025, many fans believe another crossover could be imminent—this time centered on the show’s main antagonist: Vecna.
Vecna and the 2v8 Connection
In November, there will also be a new round of the 2v8 mode, which recently featured Capcom’s Resident Evil, as the most recent 2v8 event was centered around Nemesis and Wesker, both playable within the mode.
Speculation is growing that the next 2v8 experience could center around Stranger Things, with Vecna and the Demogorgon joining forces. Given their contrasting powers and iconic status within the franchise, it would make for a compelling and terrifying pairing.
Why Vecna Won’t Be a Legendary Skin
One important clarification was shared by Dead by Daylight Game Director and Head of Partnerships, Mathieu Côté. During a recent interview, he explained that Stranger Things Vecna would never be used as a legendary skin for the Dungeons & Dragons version of Vecna, as they are two completely separate IPs with no thematic connection.
Moreover it would also be a missed commercial opportunity: a full Stranger Things chapter centered on Vecna would draw more attention and revenue than a simple skin.
Original Plans Involved Castlevania
Another fascinating detail revealed internally was that Dungeons & Dragons killer was originally supposed to be Count Strahd von Zarovich. That plan changed when Behaviour landed a deal to bring Dracula from Castlevania into the game. This unexpected switch has led fans to speculate that Stranger Things Vecna may have already been reserved for a dedicated chapter down the line.
Is Hawkins Coming Back to the Fog?
While this remains unconfirmed, the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. With the final season of Stranger Things coming in the same month as Dead by Daylight’s November Licensed Chapter, a new crossover makes a lot of sense.
And if the rumors are true, players could soon be running from Vecna or teaming up with Eleven and Hopper in Dead by Daylight‘s next terrifying chapter.
