Instead, in the end it was Miramax that won the rights with news that is confirmed thanks to Deadline:
Miramax Television has signed a wide-ranging deal with Trancas to develop and co-produce a Halloween TV series , which also includes a first-look agreement on other TV projects for the international market. The new Halloween series is expected to potentially launch a cinematic universe spanning film and television. Marc Helwig, head of global TV at Miramax, will oversee the franchise from a creative standpoint in close collaboration with Akkad. Joint control of film and television rights would allow Miramax and Trancas to delineate an integrated film and television universe.
Akkad's words after this deal:
''Trancas International Films is extremely enthused to be expanding our long-standing relationship with Miramax, and we look forward to working with Marc Helwig and the entire team in creating this new chapter,'
So after the Friday the 13th TV series called 'Crystal Lake' comes the Michael Myers TV series.
