The Friday the 13th franchise has been in limbo for a long time now, when the game was released on steam in 2017 it was just the beginning of the birth of the asymmetric multiplayer horror genre that would later establish Dead by Daylight in the years to come as the major exponent of the genre thanks to a series of collaborations that have boosted its popularity.

Friday the 13th the Game did a very good number of sales initially, but it had serious balancing issues that caused it to be abandoned by most of the community within a few months, and unfortunately, updates were late in coming as the first balances for the game began to be released, the user base was already mostly gone, and if you add to that the fact that the license then went into litigation between the director of the movies and the screenwriter of the first Jason Voorhees movie, you understand why to date there has been no new Friday The 13th product for many years now.

Hope for fans was rekindled, however, when Crystal Lake was announced, a TV series based just on Jason Voorhees produced by A24 and written by the writer of Hannibal and scheduled for release just this year:

And not only that, in fact just these days a new free Friday The 13th game was announced, based on that very game from 2017 that was taken off sale just late last year:

Friday the 13th: The Game | Resurrected is the name chosen by the development team that decided to modify the original game by adding all the content that was supposed to come as DLC within the original 2017 game.

This game will be free of charge, because it is a game made by fans for fans and of which the developers do not own the license in order to profit from it, which is precisely why therefore the game will be precisely free for everyone and apparently it will be released not only for PC but also for consoles, with various modifications and additions to the original game such as new versions of Jason:

The release date of Friday the 13th Resurrected will be announced on April 15:

Hopefully, this new version of Friday the 13th will be able to breathe new life into a franchise that now seems moribund because of the legal problems that have been there.

What do you think, will you try it Friday the 13th Resurrected?
